MARIA SIFAKI

Maria Sifaki's work incorporate elements connected to the  human existence and  nature, focused throught close details.Emotional environments, including fragments of human existence or absence, are created.
In addition, text and numbers, color fields referencing the analysis and measurement of different capabilities, or interpretation of additional project extensions are included.
The works capture detached images of nature without  defined light in a dark environment with powerful colours.The paintings are constructed by many layers of color pigment and cause  the interaction with the work.

Maria Sifaki was born in Heraklion, Crete. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she studied painting with professors Chronis Botsoglou and Dimitris Mytaras. She attended the scenography workshop with professor Giorgos Ziakas and the mosaic workshop with professor Yiannis Valavanidis. Has been awarded by the State Scholarship Foundation. She studied painting at Winchester School of Art in UK. She followed postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with a scholarship from the Bodosaki Foundation. Her works are in private collections and have participated in group exhibitions. She lives and works in Athens.
